Since two weeks I’ve been back in Albania to finish my internship in Gjirokastra. When I was back in Tirana at the beginning of this month, I was invited to a presentation of a very nice project organised by Cultural Heritage Without Borders.
Shepherds in the region of Gjirokastra were asked to provide the wool for the designs made by Arjela Kule of Ariee Design and were put together by artisans from Gjirokastra and Antigonea. Devided into three themes (mountain tea, the cobbled streets and the symbolism of the pomegranate) characteristic for Gjirokastra, products have been made like carpets, pillows, jewelry, bags and felt animals.
I think they turned out beautiful!
