After staying in Gjirokastra for three weeks to finish my internship and start up my thesis, it was time for J & J’s Big Adventure! Jenny, who I met last year in Gjiro and is now a really good friend, came back from Australia and had some time to travel, so I asked her if she wanted to join me on one of my travel dreams: Exploring the Caucasus!
Together we started in Tirana, where we got the plane to Istanbul. After staying there for a couple of days we went off to Ankara by train, where we got the sleeper train to Kars. From there we took the bus to Georgia where we stayed more than a week. Jenny decided she wanted to explore Turkey a bit more, so after a couple of weeks we said goodbye and she went to Cappadocia and I went to Armenia. In Armenia I stayed 5 days and went back to Georgia again, where I took the plane to Istanbul. Took some time in Istanbul again to see a couple of things there and finally flew back to Tirana.
The trip itself was beautiful, emotional, though and a good life experience eventually. The next posts will be about this trip. Stay tuned!
